Aboriginal Disability Liaison Officer

(Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander Identified*)

• Part Time Fixed Term until 30th January 2023

• 3 days per week, 22.8 hours per week
• Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award, Level 3 – pay point 1 
 
Katungul Aboriginal Corporation Regional Health and Community Services is a not-for-profit organisation providing culturally attuned, integrated health and community services on the Far South Coast of New South Wales. 
Reporting to the Director Business Services and Governance the Aboriginal Disability Liaison Officer will play a critical role in reaching out to people with a disability to increase awareness of the NDIS and provide support to people to access the scheme.
The successful applicant will play a critical role in creating a cultural link between community and disability related supports offered through the NDIS. 
 
Skills and experience:

• Experience working in an Aboriginal community/health/disability service.
• Demonstrated understanding of the issues and barriers that impact upon the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
• Experience working with external health providers and other community-based services and organisations.
• Experience providing one-on-one support to clients.
• Knowledge and understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) or willingness to learn.
• Knowledge and understanding of child protection requirements relating to community organisations.
• Ability to collect data and write reports and client notes
• Tertiary qualification in community services, health or another relevant professional field (preferred but not essential).
• Current drivers’ licence.
