Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-Operative – Engagement & Family services now have the following vacancies based at our Mooroopna office

 

x2 – First Supports Worker (New position)

Full time – 38 hours per week

 

Role purpose:

The First Supports worker will undertake comprehensive assessment of kinship carers and provide recommendations to Child Protection about the suitability of placements. The first supports work will promote placement stability and support children and young people living in kinship placements through the provision of flexible funding to meet the material and financial needs of the placement; assisting carers to promote connection to culture and, by building the capacity of kinship carers to understand and respond to the needs of the children or young people in their care through the provision of family services support.

 

Who we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community including a high-level awareness of the role of kinship networks and issues that have an impact on the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and young people, including intergenerational trauma.
  • Well-developed assessment skills and ability to write high quality reports.
  • Tertiary qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Youth Work or related discipline; or working toward obtaining qualification.

 

The successful applicants will be subject to comprehensive reference checks and will need to provide:  A National Police Check, Working with Children Check and evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination status.
