Project Officer – AOD Certification Ready

The Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia is seeking a Project Officer to join their team to support a new Alcohol and other Drug (AOD) certification ready project for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOS) across Western Australia.

The key objective of the project is to support and enable approximately 10 – 12 ACCHSs and ACCOs in WA to be certified ‘ready’ against the AOD and Human Services Standard, enabling progression toward certification, increased capability to apply for AOD treatment funding and ultimately enhanced capacity to meet the AOD treatment needs of local Aboriginal people, families, and communities.

A secondary objective of the project is to build the Lead Auditor workforce in WA, with a particular focus on Aboriginal workforce development and enhanced career pathways in organisational governance within the ACCHS/ACCO sectors.

The successful applicant will have strong administration skills, an ability to undertake a range of project support activities, have good interpersonal skills and work well with a small team.

The position involves working within a multicultural organisation where the majority of employees, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment.

Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in Australia and will be required to provide evidence of this entitlement, such as an Australian or New Zealand passport, birth certificate, or foreign passport with a relevant working visa.
