What’s the role?

• The role of Health Promotion Officer is to work in partnership with the Primary Health Care teams to support individuals and families to build resilience using an approach that builds on community and cultural strengths
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure social and emotional wellbeing activities are culturally relevant and clients have access to cultural, psychosocial, psychological and clinical interventions and treatments
• Set up displays and resources on health issues
• Role-modelling and ongoing education of healthy lifestyles habits
• Ensuring all personnel and/or client information is kept confidential
• Liaise with a variety of allied Government and Non-Government agencies as directed, or when requested to represent PHHS in a professional manner
• Participating in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion initiatives

Is this the right role for you?

• Relevant qualifications in a health promotion, public health, education, community development or an allied health discipline
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary health team in a cross-cultural working environment
• Experience in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health care delivery
• Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, principles of Primary Health Care and relevant legislation governing work practice
• Demonstrated high level of organisational and team skills including ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously
• A current Manual Drivers License and a willingness to travel by 4WD
• OCHRE Card (or willingness to obtain one)
• Criminal History check

NT PHN/RWA NT may be able to offer relocation support and clinical educational financial assistance to health professionals who are relocating to the NT or moving within the NT to a greater remoteness area classification for the purposes of employment and further clinical education.
