Keynote speakers announced for NACCHO Ochre Day Men’s Health Conference 2019
The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) will hold its seventh annual Ochre Day Men’s Health Conference on 29-30 August at Pullman On the Park, Melbourne.
This year’s
conference will focus on three aspirational topics around Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander men being: in-control, innovative and influential.
The
NACCHO Ochre Day Conference is an important event that draws attention to
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander male health issues and their impact on
their social and emotional health in a holistic way. The enduring
theme for the conference is – Men’s Health, Our Way. Let’s Own It!
NACCHO is thrilled to announce some of the eminent
keynote speakers for the 2019 conference which include: Lomas Amini, National
Camping on Country Coordinator, Ernie Dingo, National Camping on Country
Ambassador, Preston Campbell, The Preston Campbell Foundation, Associate
Professor Ray Lovett, Australian National University amongst others.
NACCHO Acting Chair, Donnella Mills
said, “The NACCHO Ochre Day Conference showcases
examples of best practice in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander male health
service delivery and enables the exchange of information, advice and ideas. The
conference reiterates the commitment of
NACCHO and its network of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations
across Australia towards improving the quality of life of Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander males.”
Mr John Paterson, CEO of Aboriginal Medical
Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT), NACCHO’s affiliate organisation,
said, “We are very fortunate this year to have an illustrious line-up of
speakers and are expecting to host around 200 male delegates from across the
country. The conference aims to increase access for Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander males to primary health care services, and participation
in healthy lifestyle activities within the community.”
