About the team:

The Immunisation team is part of the Health Protection Service, Hunter New England Population Health Unit. The Health Protection Service is responsible for the surveillance and control of communicable diseases, coordination of immunisation, environmental health, epidemiology, and public health research.

The role is based on Gomeroi land on the Tamworth Hospital site in the Population Health building.

As the successful candidate you will be supported by a Nurse Manager, Aboriginal Immunisation Manager, Clinical Nurse Consultants, and Public Health Physicians; 

  • HNE Population Health Aboriginal Network Group 
  • NSW Aboriginal Immunisation Network

     

About the job:

The Aboriginal Health Worker works as a key member of the Immunisation team and plays a vital role in improving immunisation coverage rates through tailored service delivery and targeted projects for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families across Hunter New England Local Health District.  

Through collaboration and advocacy this role will assist in identifying and developing culturally appropriate immunisation service delivery, resources, and education with a focus on adaptations for rural and remote services  The role includes data review, quality assurance, quality improvement, and reporting
