INDEPENDENT BOARD DIRECTORS

  • Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation
  • Wagga Wagga, NSW
  • Aboriginal health, family

Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RivMed) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation providing a range of culturally appropriate community, health, family and well-being services in the NSW Riverina region. The Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC) placed RivMed under special administration on 22 February 2022 to initiate and ensure corporate reform. That reform will include a new governance framework and the appointment of a new board of directors.

RivMed initially seeks to appoint part-time professional corporation advisory group members for the period of the special administration. On the completion of the special administration, the advisory group will be invited to form the new board as non-executive directors to strengthen the leadership, governance and development of the organisation. Advisory group appointments will be made in April and the board appointed at the end of the special administration in August 2022.

Expressions of interest are invited from experienced executives motivated to contribute as Specialist Independent Directors to the strategy, leadership and commercial oversight of RivMed in its important role in improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the region.

Prior board experience is required and persons with experience and/or interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health are encouraged to apply. Professional backgrounds in finance, legal, clinical, business or other disciplines will be highly regarded. Independent Directors will be expected to demonstrate and promote a strong understanding of the role of the board and the executive in the strategic and commercial oversight of the organisation.

These advisory group and future corporation directorships are voluntary, with expenses provided.

Applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged, but these are not designated/identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander appointments.

Applications close 12 noon 8 April 2022.
