Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-Operative – Engagement and Family Services now has the following vacancy: 

 

Better Futures Community Connector

Full-time, 38 hours per week

 Fixed Term, 12-month contract with the possibility to extend.

This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander designated position, classified under Section 12 Special Measures of the Equal Opportunity Act (2010). This employment opportunity is only available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 

About the Role

Be part of the Better Futures initiative, designed to improve outcomes for young people transitioning from care to supported independence. As a Community Connector, you will play a vital role in building partnerships, networks, and opportunities within our local Aboriginal community. Your focus will be on enhancing young people’s social capital and community connectedness, ultimately creating brighter futures for them.

 

Key functions and responsibilities for this role include:

  • Drive collaborative efforts among community stakeholders to create opportunities and pathways for young people transitioning from care.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and identify gaps in existing services to address structural barriers and enhance opportunities for young people.
  • Utilize local data and insights to inform and shape the Community Connections service offer, tailoring it to meet the specific needs of the community.
  • Empower the community to take ownership of the challenges faced by young people transitioning from care, fostering the development of local solutions.
  • Advocate for the potential of young people and raise awareness within the community about their abilities and what can be achieved when working together.
