NACCHO Members

NACCHO currently has 146 members that operate Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) in urban, regional, and remote Australia. They range from large multi-functional services employing several medical practitioners and providing a wide range of services, to small services which rely on Aboriginal Health Workers and/or nurses to provide the bulk of primary care services, often with a preventive, health education focus.

Membership

The criteria for members (as defined in the NACCHO Constitution at clause 4.2.5) are that they are:

  • Incorporated Aboriginal community controlled organisations operating an Aboriginal health service;
  • Committed to the NACCHO definition of Aboriginal health;
  • Culturally appropriate; and
  • Provide primary health care

To become a new member of NACCHO, the ACCHO must first be a member of their state affiliate. Then, the state affiliate determines whether they meet the membership criteria of NACCHO and can recommend to the NACCHO Board that they become a new member.
